Valley Hospital recently expanded our facility to include rooms for outpatient procedures and pre-surgical activities. This facility features a large waiting room, centralized services and private rooms.
Common procedures include:
We want your surgery to be as safe as possible, as does your surgeon. You are asked to come to the hospital, if possible, before the day of surgery for assessment to make sure you are ready. For example, are you on blood thinners? Are you taking herbal medications that should be stopped two weeks prior to surgery? Does your history make an EKG a good idea? Our staff will do this assessment and gather any tests or materials so that the anesthesiologist, surgeon, or staff can take any precautions necessary for your safety.
You will return to Outpatient Services are to check in on the day of surgery, whether you will be staying overnight or not. Staff will start an IV and you will meet your anesthesiologist. Bring a companion if you wish; he or she will be able to stay with you almost until you go into the surgery suite. They may wait here while you have your procedure. Your family will be given an update after the procedure. If you are not staying the night, you will be returned to this area to fully wake up, receive discharge instructions and get ready to go home.
